How does Strawberry Idol work?
Eligible applicants have until Wednesday, June 17, 2009 to submit their application to the BSRA. To determine if you are eligble, check out the rules below at “who can enter?
What you’ll need to enter:
- A completed application form
- $25.00 entry fee (certified cheque or money order made out to the BSRA)
- Recent photo for promotional purposes
- One-page bio telling us who you are

After the Call for Entries closes, we will notify you of the time of your appearance at a live audition and the location (still to be confirmed) on Saturday, June 20th, 2009. Please be prepared to sing a full song a capella – without backup music – when called to the stage.
Our panel of musical experts will judge those auditions and select the 40 best entries to proceed to the semifinal round on Saturday, June 21st, 2009. The top 20 best entries from the semifinals will go to the final round on Saturday, June 27th, 2009.
Judges will pick first, second and third place winners at the finals.
Who Can Enter?
Strawberry Idol is open to all ages and all varieties of popular music. It’s strictly for singers, so we’ll be asking you to leave your band and musical instruments at home.
You’ll also need to meet the Strawberry Idol eligibility requirements, which means you’ll need to be a Vancouver Island resident and an amateur musician. If you’re under 18, please ensure you include signed permission from your parent or guardian as part of your entry package.
Eligible applicants can enter Strawberry Idol by mailing their Application Form to:

Applicants are responsible for ensuring delivery. The BSRA is not liable for any failure of attempted delivery. All applicants will have to be available for a live audition to be held on Saturday June 20th, 2009.
The application package must include:
- Completed and signed application form, including the applicant’s name, contact address, telephone number and email address if available, sufficiently clear to enable the BSRA or a BSRA representative to contact them;
- Recent photograph of the application (this does not have to be a professional photograph, just a good likeness);
- One-page biography of the applicant (include school, musical influences, interests, goals, how long you’ve been singing, etc.);
- The $25.00 application fee in the form of certified cheque or money order, made payable to the BSRA; and
- Signed permission from a parent or guardian if the application is under the age of 18.
If any of the above items are absent, the application will not be considered.
